Fungillation is a space-dependant installation made out of the underground communication system of fungi – the mycelium. Our goal is to better understand the communication and invisible processes of nature and thereby develop a deeper empathy for the natural world.
By learning to observe carefully, Fungillation allows us to gain insight into the subtle language of the mycelium. By listening, feeling, and seeing, we experience fungal communication transmitted through electrical signals. These signals are read and translated into sounds in real time.
The installation in the exhibition space confronts us with the question of whether the mycelium destroys or repairs the space. Through vibrations generated by the electrical signals, the fungus has control over the state of the space. It seems as if the mycelium transcends the boundaries and even breaks through the wall. Yet, at the same time, the mycelium has the remarkable ability to grow anywhere and connect components together.
Fungillation invites you to experience this installation and engage with the mysterious processes of nature. Immerse yourself in the world of mycelium and expand your understanding of natural communication.
Our goal is to challenge viewers to look beyond the superficial and make a deeper connection to art and nature. We believe that observation and understanding are fundamental to facilitating a deeper interaction with the world around us. By blurring the boundaries between artwork and viewer, we create spaces where visitors are actively invited to observe, understand, and interact with art.
